ID: 2015-056 This is a clinical diagnostic/predictive test to be used by clinicians or provided through a reference laboratory to test for Pre-eclampsia (PE).
Principal Investigator: Steven Graves
PE is a potentially dangerous pregnancy complication that is a result in spiking high blood pressure at various stages during pregnancy. A mass spectrometer is used to measure certain lipids that are able to predict PE by 12 – 14 weeks of pregnancy.
About the Market:
Over 90% of pregnant women destined to have PE were correctly identified using this method during the research leading to this patent.
